Doll Reader magazine is heading into its 40th year in 2012, and one of our proudest accomplishments over the last four decades is the creation and development of the Doll of the Year® (DOTY®) awards competition. Although there are now several doll competitions out there for artists to enter, we continually hear from many prominent figures in the industry that this one in particular is still the most esteemed, and to win a DOTY is a singularly special experience.

“I am always and still feel very honored to get this prestigious award,” says 2011 DOTY winner award Hildegard Günzel. “It is very important to be chosen by the jury of the Industry's Choice® award, but it is an additional affirmation when the readers and collectors vote for my work, as these are the ones who want to live with my little creatures.”

According to 2011 DOTY award winner Heidi Plusczok, “There is no bigger honor for me as an artist than to receive a prize from the public’s vote. It is so rewarding for my work and inspiring to me.”
