How to Contribute to Doll Reader Magazine

Thank you for your interest in Doll Reader magazine, the number one magazine for doll collectors. Doll Reader, published nine times a year, provides beginning to advanced collectors with information on antique, vintage, modern, and contemporary dolls. Each issue features artist profiles, new research on antique and vintage dolls, the latest collecting trends and exclusives, as well as the newest releases from manufacturers and artists. World-renowned doll authorities Jan Foulke, A. Glenn Mandeville, and Patricia N. Schoonmaker provide expert information in their columns on antique, vintage, and modern dolls.

Guidelines for Writers

Feature Articles

• Averages 7 feature stories per issue
• Approximately 1000–2000 words

Shorter Articles (news, events in your town, etc.)

• Unknown number per issue
• Approximately 400–700 words

Photo Finish

• 1 per issue
• Exceptional photograph

Format

• Articles should be double-spaced and typed in Microsoft Word format. Any additional information, such as sidebars, should be clearly identified.
• If you include photographs, captions must clearly identify all accompanying photographs. High resolution (300 dpi) digital or scanned photographs sent as JPEGS or TIFS via email are preferred, but prints, slides, or digital photos on disc via postal mail are also accepted. Please include a SASE for prints to be returned.
• Please include your contact information on each submission.

Payment

Compensation varies depending on the type or article accepted. Payment is on publication. Doll Reader buys exclusive rights to its stories for publication.

Deadlines

We generally work three months in advance of publication date. Writers must therefore be writing at least three months in advance on seasonal articles.

Submissions
