1. Barbie Turns 50!

2. New World Record Set at Auction
> A new world record price paid at auction was set at a Theriault’s auction in July, 2009. A rare Albert Marque French antique doll was auctioned for $263,000, a price that surpassed the old record of $215,000 set in 2003 in Las Vegas as part of the Mildred Seeley Collection (also for an Albert Marquee doll). 3. Tonner Releases “Twilight” Dolls
> Doll Reader’s November 2009 issue highlighted the “Twilight”-inspired dolls released by the Tonner Doll Co., 15-inch Bella Swan and 17-inch Edward Cullen. And that was just the beginning for this popular collection!
4. The Marie Osmond Fashion Doll Takes Center Stage
> In Doll Reader’s November 2009 issue, Marie Osmond introduced the first designs of her new series of Marie Osmond fashion dolls. The doll, which appeared on the cover of this issue, wore a costume based on one Marie wears during her live stage production of “Donny & Marie” in Las Vegas. Click here to read more.
5. Queen B Wins DOTY "Best in Show"
Superfrock’s Queen B took home the 2009 DOTY award for "Best in Show," which was announced in Doll Reader’s September 2009 issue.
6. Groovy Girls Make the Cover
The Fall Young Collections supplement to Doll Reader featured the every-popular Groovy Girls by Manhattan Toy on the cover. Also in this issue: mazes, trivia, paper dolls, and more.
7. Doll Reader Goes Digital
For the first time ever, Doll Reader magazine offered its readers a digital version of its magazine in addition to print. It’s highly anticipated fashion doll supplement issue featured elegant eveningwear and more casual outfits for fashion dolls and BJDs, photo tips, and Ashton-Drake Galleries’ Delilah Noir on the cover. 8. Himstedt Closes Its Doors
A sad announcement for Himstedt fans everywhere, the doors of the Annette Himstedt factory closed in April, 2009. Doll Reader covered the closing in its August 2009 issue and the release of the final edition, Annette’s Farewell Kinder Collection.
9. Robert Tonner Introduces Antoinette
In the May 2009 issue, we sat down with Robert Tonner to discuss the release of his newest fashion doll creation: Antoinette. “She is the ultimate muse,” said Robert.
10. Brand New Bleuette Introduced
Doll Reader’s October issue showcased the all-new Bleuette dolls by Leannie Co. These new dolls remain amazingly true to the original 1905 Jumeau sculpt.
