CLAREMORE, OK (June 21, 2010) - Kathy and Janet Lennon, of the Lennon Sisters, made a personal appearance at My Doll Castle to share their awarding-winning Best Pals line of soft rag dolls, paper dolls, children’s music, and play sets to customers in historic downtown Claremore. The in-store event took place from 1 PM to 4 PM on June 5. Customers met the ladies and learned the story behind their children’s product line while enjoying refreshments, a song or two and a delicious cake.
“Think entertaining, pleasurable, and a warm, fuzzy feeling – the event was a delight to host. We had it all when we were honored to have Kathy and Janet Lennon at My Doll Castle. The hours flew by as the ladies chatted, autographed and sang,” said Gloria Pierce, owner of My Doll Castle. “There was laughter, and some tears as everyone went down memory lane with two of the nicest ladies you could ever meet. Janet and Kathy brought beautiful baskets filled with 'Best Pals' items which lucky ladies won. And of course, the cake was delicious!”
“We thoroughly enjoyed sharing our Best Pals dolls with the customers of My Doll Castle for an afternoon,” stated Kathy Lennon. “We have so much fun meeting fans – the ones that have grown up with us, and the ones that are just finding us for the first time.”
“It is so much fun to meet with people who have seen our dolls and enjoy them, but it’s also wonderful to talk with people when they are just discovering the Best Pals,” said Janet Lennon.
The celebrity sisters, who still perform in Branson and select venues throughout the year, recently saw an opportunity to realize a dream that they had always shared and decided to try their hand at being entrepreneurs as well as performers. Based on their own lifelong friendship, their love for a pair of handmade ragdolls and their concern for the lack of non-electronic toys in the marketplace, they launched their own children’s product line – Best Pals. The wholesome toys, with a nod back to their 1950’s childhood, were developed especially for parents and grandparents looking to provide their children and grandchildren with high quality toys at affordable prices, with the underlying premise of having and being a trusted friend.
With a host of awards from Dr. Toy, iParenting Media, the National Parenting Center, NAPPA and Creative Child, the product has been recognized by parents, educators and children for outstanding play value. The soft ragdolls are replicas of a set of dolls that were given to Kathy and Janet Lennon in 1949, which were handmade for them by their mother and their Nana; the music CDs are comprised of classic childhood favorites and lullabies, and the play sets and paper dolls emphasize pretend play.
My Doll Castle is located in historic downtown Claremore. Opened for just two years the store has successfully hosted numerous doll artist signings.
